Is this topic really up my niche? yes! yes it is, I was going through all my previous how to blogs for inspiration for this one and realized how so many of my spiritual & mental health posts talk about keeping your space clean so I thought why not share some tips on keeping up with the cleaning. Here are a few tips I have learned over the years that have helped me keep our house organized & clean. Don't get me wrong it's still a mess some days or I'm too tired or too busy to clean but on an every day basis this is what I implement in my life and you can too.
DONT PUT IT DOWN, PUT IT AWAY,
One life-changing mantra, don't put things down after using them wherever put them back where they belong. Putting it away right after use will help eliminate a pile up later on.
Clean After Everyone Is In Bed,
Okay! I don't mean start vacuuming in the middle of the night, this one's more for people with kids and pets, don't waste your time cleaning up and putting toys and things away when you know they're probably just going to get back into those items. Let them play, let it be messy it's okay, it's fun. Once they are asleep or out of that particular area for the day put things away things then, this way you just need to do it once. Another great hack for keeping your living room looking clean with kids is to use ottomans as storage, I personally like to keep the living room looking like a place for me and my husband to relax but it is also the place where my baby spends the most time hanging out which means toys are a must, I keep two ottomans in our living room filled with his toys, in the morning when we come upstairs I take the toys out for him and once he is in bed at night I put them back in. I love ottomans over shelves because they hide things and this way the whole family gets to use the room the way they like and need.
Theme Days:
The most important thing to do as a busy parent or person is to have a routine for your day, if you're like me and like to stay on top of everything a schedule or a flow to your days and weeks is a must. Here's an example of my weekly themes, I have assigned each day a theme and on that day I focus only on that so I don't get overwhelmed by everything all at once:
Theme Days:
Monday: Cleaning (upstairs)
Tuesday: Detoxing & Decluttering (bathrooms)
Wednesday: Active Day ( bedrooms)
Thursday: Dinner night
Friday: Laundry Day (Study)
Saturday: Family Day & Errands
Sunday: Closets & Planning
This is what my schedule looks like right now and this is what works for me, that will look different for you but it's a great way to plan and break it down in bits and pieces. On Sundays I plan again, meaning I revise my schedule depending on what I have going on the next week.
Plan & Organize,
Everyone has a different schedule and a different life so figure out what works for you and your space but coming up with a plan yourself and actually setting an intention to get these things done will definitely be crucial to actually keeping up with cleaning.
Keeping your space clean will help you keep your mind clear and help you relax at home, segmentation has helped me a lot but if there are days where i have 0 energy to do anything I just let myself be sometimes we are simply too tired and that is alright! but these tricks and tips will also help keep the daily messes to a minimum. I hope this helps!
