4 Ways To Organize Your Time

Whether it be finishing your assignments on time or making time to get proper amount of sleep, everything is easier when you organize your time and schedule your day/week/month. These are a few ways you can make your time more productive and even add a day where you just let go and relax. This can help you stay focused on your goals and utilize the best gift of all, TIME. Let me also remind you that organizing your time will also help stay more grounded in the present moment while being focused on your future goals, if you are someone who struggles with mental health issues, I'm sure you will understand the importance of staying grounded.

1. 8:8:8 : This is a method I use to organize my own time, I don't know if it's a real thing or not but it is very real and helpful to me. You basically split the 24 hrs of the day into 3 periods of 8 hrs and then assign what activities you will do and in which period of time. For example, 8 hrs of work, 8 hours of sleep and the other 8 you can split that down even further into 4 periods of 2 hrs, 2 hrs for house chores, 2 hrs at the gym, 2 hrs for prepping or socializing and the other 2 to relax and blow off steam before you go into the 8 hrs of sleeping. I know sounds a bit complicated but it is simple and you technically already do this but by assigning certain time periods to certain activities you can get more done simply because you have a PLAN.

2. Goals and Priorities : Before you can schedule anything you need to figure out what your priorities look like, if you have short term goals that are time sensitive like studying for mid terms, or getting in shape for the summer or saving enough money for a vacation by a certain month, goals that need to be achieved by a certain time period will naturally take priority over other things, so let's say you have two months to save up for a vacation you would prioritize less costly activities over going out for drinks, if you are going to be getting in shape by summer that would require you to be more mindful of your eating habits and a proper workout plan. Write it down and decide what actions you need to take to achieve those goals and see how you can add those actions to your every day life to get to where you need to be.

3. Setting Standards : This is related to setting goals, but standards are personal rules we live by right? these can be as small as deciding what you do first thing in the morning, for me it's meditating 20 minutes before I get out of bed and then making my bed first thing. This helps me stay mentally focused on my goals and maintain good habits now your goals probably aren't the same as me but setting standards that are easy to follow can really bring more structure to your daily life. This basically means making a to-do list for yourself.

4. Switch It Up : Routine can be boring and you don't need to follow the same schedule for the whole month or even week. As someone who absolutely despises routine, what I do is, make my schedule on a weekly basis and then make a different type of to do list every night before I doze off, and hey! if you have a hard time sleeping sticking to a proper schedule will help you get in the habit of sleeping at the same time every day too.

There you have it, 4 ways you can organize your time and be more productive, I hope this helps!
